HOJICHA POWDER IN 2 VARIETIES - ESPECIALLY INTENSE ROAST FOR A NUTTY FLAVOR & LIGHT ROAST FOR MORE GREEN TEA FLAVOR

  • 100% roasted matcha with no additives
  • Chocolatey, coffee-like roasted aroma
  • Strong roast: caramel & nutty
  • Light roast: more green tea flavor

Hojicha tea is an extraordinary form of green tea, as it is not steamed like other green teas, but elaborately and carefully roasted over charcoal in special Hojicha roasters. This results in a coffee-like roasted aroma with nuances of nuts, caramel, and malty sweet flavors.

This modern interpretation of Hojicha tea is not the loose leaf version, but Hojicha in finely ground form, which is prepared like a classic matcha. Thus, not only the water-soluble ingredients but all the nutrients of the entire tea leaf can be consumed.

We deliberately refrain from using any additives, meaning our organic Hojicha Latte powder is a pure natural product without any additives.

PREPARATION - HOW TO PREPARE YOUR ROASTED MATCHA QUICKLY AND EASILY

Preparation is the same as for a classic matcha tea. Add 1-2 grams of the tea powder to a matcha bowl. The powder is best measured with a bamboo matcha spoon (Chashaku) - in this case, that would be 1-2 heaped spoons.

Next, add water at approximately 80 degrees to the powder and whisk it with a matcha whisk (Chasen) for 15-20 seconds until the foam is nice and creamy. This is best achieved with quick zigzag movements from the wrist. Imagine you are tracing the letter W with the whisk.

When the surface is completely frothy, you can add more hot water if desired. The less water you add, the more intense the taste of your matcha tea. We recommend starting with approx. 80ml for 1-2 grams of the roasted matcha powder.

The matcha can then be served and enjoyed, either plain or with a small sweet treat
